Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Oncology team on a temporary basis. As an RN in Oncology, you will play a critical role in providing specialized nursing care to patients with cancer diagnoses. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in oncology nursing, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Responsibilities: Assess patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs upon admission and throughout their cancer treatment, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans. Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other cancer treatments as prescribed by physicians, following established protocols and guidelines for safe medication administration. Monitor patients' response to treatment and changes in condition, communicating with the healthcare team to adjust care plans and interventions as needed. Educate patients and families about their cancer diagnosis, treatment options, side effects, and supportive care measures, providing emotional support and guidance throughout the cancer journey. Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for oncology patients. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements, using electronic medical records systems. Adhere to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and organizational policies to maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and staff education activities to promote excellence in oncology nursing practice. Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience, with experience in oncology nursing preferred. Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or willingness to obtain certification within one year of hire. Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and complex patient cases.
