Position Description Installs, operates, and maintains transmission and distribution substation equipment in the Horry-Georgetown area to assure safe and reliable operation. Essential Job Tasks: Installs equipment during construction of substations under supervision.Performs distribution and transmission switching under supervision.Performs substation inspections.Tests and repairs substation equipment (clearance required) and maintains records under supervision.Performs job duties to ensure transmission substations in the HG area, all distribution substations, Technical Services, building facilities and grounds are in environmental compliance with operation, maintenance, storage, and disposal of gas-filled and oil-filled equipment and potentially hazardous material, such as substation batteries and gas cylinders.Understands field drawings and equipment schematics.Tests designated transformers, loads damaged transformers, and unloads repaired transformers.Helps restore service during unplanned substation outages.Participates in monthly safety meetings and daily job briefings.Utilizes PPE.Serves on-call with technical supervisor or Technician A.
Position Requirements *Will consider Technician A, B or C Technician C High School Diploma or GED.Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from an accredited institution preferred.Must have PC and mainframe computer skills.Must be able to obtain CDL license, forklift and mobile crane certification within six months of hire. Mechanical, print-reading, and hydraulics skills preferred.Confined Space Rescue Certification required. Compensation Information:
$21.10 - $26.35 (min. - mid.) Technician B High School Diploma or GED+ 2 years experience.Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from an accredited institution preferred.Must have PC and mainframe computer skills.Must be able to obtain CDL license, forklift and mobile crane certification within six months of hire.
