Job Summary
The technical writer is responsible for developing Mark Andy technical manuals. To develop the manuals, the technical writer will research and develop content, create illustrations through either CAD or photographic means, and edit content and input from engineers into final publication form. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates and maintains illustrations from Pro/ENGINEER models, AutoCAD drawings, digital camera, scanned images, or other sources for use in Mark Andy publications. Researches, writes, and maintains press operation and service manuals for all Mark Andy products. Works closely with various departments to understand project requirements. Performs all editorial duties with respect to content, grammar, and style consistency in Mark Andy technical publications. Coordinates publication and translation of manuals are required. Develops comprehensive documents that meet organizational standards. Other duties as assigned. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Knowledge of Mark Andy products and engineering design process. Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent typing and writing skills. Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in communications, engineering, or relevant technical field preferred. Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences. Two or more years of experience as an effective technical writer. Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Climate controlled office environment. May have limited exposure to manufacturing areas that requires the use of PPE. Frequently required to sit. Occasional walking, standing, stooping, and kneeling. Occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. OTHER DUTIES:
