The Technical Product Manager is a subject matter expert in managing the Commercial Analytics product portfolio, systems, and processes. As an individual contributor, this role will exercise considerable judgment to guide and coordinate collaboration with Business Intelligence managers, analysts, developers, and partner teams to evolve efficiencies through technical innovation. This role is responsible for developing standards and best practices for best-in-class deployments of our analytic tools at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
As a subject matter expert in technical product delivery, process improvement, and business intelligence, orchestrates multiple large projects to deliver critical analytical tools and support for Alaska's Commercial and Finance divisions. Facilitates OKR planning sessions, establishes business impact scoring system to aid in prioritization, and works with Business Intelligence, Data Science, and ITS leadership to identify commitments. Tracks and communicates progress to goals and supports removing barriers to success. Uncovers and understands customer needs and translates into requirements. Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations. Acts as the subject matter expert of Commercial Analytics data products, usages, technical lineage, and business impact. Promotes our products through different community sites and internal events. Maintains our data catalog, including customer-facing sites to reflect our products and showcase self-help documentation. Manages data governance and data product lifecycle for Commercial Analytics data products. Defines success criteria for testing and product acceptance. Facilitates the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation. Identifies opportunities to reduce redundancies and support single "source of truth" for key metrics and data products. Supports Business Intelligence leadership with a management system to streamline the intake, development, delivery, and ongoing management of data products and business relationships. Owns internal Azure DevOps, GitHub, and other team collaboration sites for ongoing development management. Develops standards and best practices for best-in-class deployments of our analytic tools. Understands technical trends and how they affect our roadmap. Plays critical role in our change management process, articulating a strategy to move the analytic platforms forward through new products, upgrades, and features. Evolves our processes through automation to streamline tasks and reduce errors. Identifies gaps and challenges in data, systems, process, and skills, and works with leadership to implement solutions. With minimal direction from leadership, tracks issues and drive resolution. Resolves program level impediments. Identifies and communicates any unresolved problems with recommended actions for correction. Manages risk and responses to the risks. Plans for contingencies by establishing appropriate linkage of risk to scope/schedule and resources. Monitors server loads and cloud-computer costs to gather performance and usage metrics. Identifies areas of opportunity for productivity, efficiency, or financial improvements. Builds strong relationships with development, engineering, infrastructure, network teams & business partners, manages collaborative OKR planning, project escalations and customer concerns. Required 7 years of experience in data analytics, technical product/project/program management, or a related area. Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, finance, statistics, business, engineering, computer science, information technology, Technical Product Management or closely related field, or an additional 2 years of experience/training in lieu of degree. Detailed knowledge and understanding of business intelligence functions, including analytics, reporting, data cleansing, data quality and relational databases. Knowledge of product management principles, practices, and tools. Understanding of business requirements as defined by epics, features, user stories & releases. Ability to work closely with business partners to derive and execute high-impact roadmaps. In-depth understanding of database principles and experience in querying data from multiple sources using SQL, Python, Spark or other advanced query / database techniques. Knowledge of visualization techniques, dashboard design, and decision support tools (such as Tableau, management systems). Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with a variety of team members. Demonstrated ability to stay calm under pressure and be comfortable with ambiguity. Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development. Possess a high level of accountability and ownership to bring assigned projects to meaningful outcomes. Demonstrate experience in coaching and mentoring BI analysts. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum age of 18. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Master's degree. 2+ years of airline/transportation/logistics experience. Experience with Azure tools (mainly Databricks, Data Factory, and Synapse). Experience with Tableau, Alteryx and SSMS or similar. Knowledge of distributed computing systems and cloud architecture. Experience with data transformation in cloud-based analytics environments. $136,100 - $204,100 / year



Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
