Overview:
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks to hire a Technical Manager. The position is in the National Isotope Development Center (NIDC), reporting to the NIDC Manager. The NIDC serves as the business interface for the U.S. Department of Energy Isotope Program (DOE IP), regularly communicating with the isotope user community and coordinating isotope production across numerous program facilities (including ORNL). The Technical Manager works directly with the NIDC staff and DOE IP program management to provide technical support on isotope production and distribution across multiple DOE production sites. The Technical Manager provides support on development of new isotope production activities and the associated distribution supply chains. The position will directly support specific needs of the NIDC Product Line Managers (PLM) to assist in implementing requirements for new product distribution.

Major Duties/Responsibilities: Provide technical support to NIDC staff in the areas of isotope production, processing, and distribution. Assist NIDC staff with addressing new production requests from customers and coordinate activities to determine feasibility and implementation requirements. As the NIDC Product Line Manager for Reactor Products: Coordinate reactor isotope production with DOE production site managers (ORNL HFIR, INL ATR, MURR, etc.) Make recommendations to DOE IP for entering/exiting markets within product line Identifies opportunities for new isotopes within product line. Manage contract development for customer supply agreements within product line Work with NIDC communications specialist on upcoming product availability announcements within product line Help identify new customers for product line and develop strategies for increasing customer base. Work with the DOE production sites on the establishment and refinement of isotope product specifications. Transition new products to Product Distribution Specialists after successful market introduction. Attend advanced hazardous material transportation training and become proficient in classification of radioactive and hazardous for transportation. Perform technical review of the NIDC monthly reports. Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in science or engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience. The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance, which requires US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) status. Exceptional teamwork and statistical skills, with attention to detail and precision required. Extremely self-motivated, creative, and passionate with excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to multi-task. Experience with integrating various requirements into a cohesive, effective, and efficient approach.

Q clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
