Job Description SummaryThe Technical Field Advisor (TFA) provides on-site technical direction to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants for their Steam Turbine Generator System(s). The TFA is responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID's, troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating and direction of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements. The primary responsibility of the TFA is to safely manage the maintenance and repair of the various equipment used in power generation applications. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our Steam Power vision and align with our organization's core values.This position is available remotely within the U.S. and expected to travel 80% annually. Travel will primarily be within the U.S. but may include international travel to Canada.Continuous employment is dependent on successful completion of formal training provided by General Electric.Candidates may receive offers of employment at varying levels of seniority based on the candidate's qualifications and relatable experience.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesLead execution and oversight of projects on steam turbine generator equipment and auxiliary systems.Direct and oversee repair or inspection procedures as the onsite technical lead.Recognize, Predict and document potential failures and future outage recommendationsPull, review and interpret prints, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawingsParticipate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics.Pre-outage planningExecute project management and technical leader duties.Troubleshoot and problem solve with the support of engineering to resolve customer issuesPerform other duties as assigned and support business needs when not on field assignmentWillingness and ability to travel as required by field assignmentsAbility and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignmentsRequired QualificationsBachelors degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university, with 5+ years of relevant professional experience, or, a High School Diploma / GED, with 7+ years of experience in a Field Services role within the Power Generation industry.Successful completion of required training programs is a minimum requirementAbility to gain unescorted access to a nuclear power facilityAbility to travel 80% annually both domestically and internationallyDesired Characteristics5+ years of experience with Turbine generator maintenance or power plant equipment installation and/or commissioning experience Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilitiesThe knowledge and skill to oversee outage managementExperience and training on GE, Alstom, Siemens or other OEM equipment is preferredGood attitude to manage relationships with customers, concerning technical and contractual aspects.Follow up all quality aspects according GE QA manual and procedures.Working knowledge and application of EHS rules.Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expectedStrong analytic and problem-solving skillsGood interpersonal and organizational skillsStrong computer skillsRelies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsGood organizational, project management, oral/written communication, interpersonal/leadership skillsGood business acumen and ability to sell GE products to the customerEmployment is contingent upon acceptable results of your pre-employment background and drug screening (to be taken within 48 hours of your receipt of the test paperwork). All training courses attended must be successfully completed as a minimum requirement for employment.If hired in the U.S.: the salary range for this position is $76,000.00 - $127,800.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
