Position Summary: The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for a wide range of activities related to networking and firewall management. These duties include network and firewall troubleshooting, programming, and installation
This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy Duties & Responsibilities: Installing, configuring, & maintaining hardware and software for Palo Alto and Fortigate firewalls Installing, configuring, & maintaining hardware, software, & networking at various levels Ability to perform troubleshooting on multiple types of systems, including both Apple and PC devices when the occasion arises Assists users with questions and problems relating to a particular area including hardware, software, and networking Evaluate and make recommendations regarding current and future computer related technologies Assist with projects which include working with individuals from all divisions of the department Will drive to/from locations across campus Will occasionally climb ladders and lift up to 25 pounds Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to keep meticulous logs of networking or security changes
Ability to work in a team to solve complex problems
Ability to respond to complex requests from users by analyzing user needs, evaluating alternatives, & recommending a course of action
Ability to analyze networking problems or errors and devise corrective measures
Knowledge of basic networking security procedures and protocols
Ability to read and interpret technical literature and evaluate product acceptability and/or quality
Must be attentive to details General Days/Hours: Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Cisco and Aruba switches
Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls
Two (2) years professional experience working with firewalls Minimum Qualifications: The formal education of an earned Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer applications, mathematics, science or a related field
