Teaching Fellowship Program

Teaching Fellowship Program
Company:

The Hun School Of Princeton

Details of the offer

TEACHING FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM Each year, Hun hires aspiring teachers to take part in the Teaching Fellow Program. The program is designed for new educators to gain valuable teaching and boarding school experience in order to further pursue a career in education.
Because of a new dormitory construction project for ******** , Teaching Fellows may live locally off campus as they hone their skills through observation, discussion, and teaching.  Throughout the year, they gain experience in four areas foundational to independent schools – classroom pedagogy and practice, resident life responsibilities, coaching, and advising.
Fellows will work with a mentor while performing duties essential to the classroom and to resident life. They will grow through classroom observations and co-teaching in the first trimester, and then assume all classroom responsibilities as we move into the second trimester. In addition, Teaching Fellows coach two seasons in athletics or lead the equivalent in the arts or co-curricular activities.
As part of their resident responsibilities, each Teaching Fellow will perform dorm duties one night a week and one weekend a month as well as assist in the Resident Life Office through implementing student programming which fosters community and bridges cultural differences among our diverse population of students.
Qualifications:  A bachelor's degree; A love for working with young people;  A commitment to a diverse and inclusive community; A passion for teaching in an innovative, experiential, and student-centered environment; Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff;   Personal qualities including resilience, approachability, and kindness; Excellent technology skills; A desire to contribute to school life outside of the classroom on a lively boarding school campus; All employees must be fingerprinted and pass the State of New Jersey criminal background check. The Hun School values diversity, equity, and inclusion. We encourage candidates from under-represented communities, particularly those with degrees in STEM and/or from New Jersey colleges and universities, to apply.
