Fall 2024 Western Connecticut State University's Macricostas School of Arts and Sciencesis pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the Macricostas Endowed Teaching Fellowship in Hellenic and Modern GreekStudies for the Fall 2024 semester.

This is a one-semester, part-time faculty appointment with the potential for renewal for up to two (2) years. Theposition is comprised of a three (3) credit teaching load in the incumbent's area of specialization and three (3) credits ofreassigned time to develop and implement co-curricular experiences, in consultation with the Macricostas Executive Stewardship Committee,which meet the following objectives:
Educate students, the university community, and the general public about the contributionsthat Ancient Greece has made to contemporary civilization; Invite scholarly study of the Classics and Modern Greece; and Demonstrably promote the discipline of Greek and Hellenic Studies at WCSU. The Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences is home to nine (9) departments offering 16undergraduate majors and four (4) graduate majors that offer a variety of ways forstudents to further their education. The Macricostas Endowed Teaching Fellowship is open to any discipline that involves Hellenic and ModernGreek Studies. The Macricostas Fellow will be expected to be available for interactions with students, faculty, and the general public thatcontribute to the intellectual life of the university and the local community. Examples of co-curricular experiences may include but are notlimited to public presentations on the Macricostas Fellow's ongoing research, consulting with relevant local/regional agencies andorganizations, hosting relevant speakers, and organizing trips to regional events or exhibits of relevant interest to the campus communityand general public. The Macricostas Fellow will perform other duties and responsibilities, as necessary. Office space in a relevant academicdepartment, travel funds, and shared access to clerical support will be provided. Grant opportunities are available to support research andconference attendance.
Qualifications: Terminal degree in an academic discipline related to Hellenicand Modern Greek Studies is required. A record of distinguished scholarship. Prior successful teaching experience in ahigher education environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Individuals with equivalentexperience and background qualifications will be considered. Salary & Benefits: $12,714 per semester($2,119.00 per credit hour) with a terminal degree for a part-time position of six (6) credit hours per semester.
