Responsibilities
• Plan the Physical and Health education curriculum in a team-based, collaborative approach• Implement dynamic and interactive lessons with a focus on Senior Kindergarten to Grade 2 students• Consider the diverse needs of students in your planning and teaching, offering a range of entry points and extensions to accommodate the needs of individual learners• Utilize a variety of assessment techniques that allow for timely, transparent, and strengths-based communication of learning• Develop a student-centered, inquiry-based, positive and supportive culture for learning• Integrate technology into teaching and learning in meaningful ways as appropriate• Participate in a comprehensive co-curricular program, with a particular focus on coaching for Junior School athletic teams• Provide supervision of students during non-instructional time• Establish a strong parent partnership• Engage in ongoing teacher professional growth
Requirements
• B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent• Previous experience teaching in physical & health education at an elementary level• Understanding on how to support diverse learning styles• Knowledge of Teaching Games for Understanding an asset• Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching young learners• Excellent written and oral communication skills• Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, highly organized with attention to detail• Energy, commitment, and readiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community
Key Skills Needed
