TEACHER AUTISM *$1000 SPECIAL EDUCATION RECRUITMENT STIPEND FOR NEW HIRES!* *POSITION RECEIVES AN ANNUAL $1,800 SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES STIPEND* TUITION REIMBURSEMENT OF UP TO $2,000 PER YEAR AVAILABLE TO OBTAIN SPECIAL EDUCATION LICENSURE* USD 497 Details FTE: 1.0 HOURS/DAY: 8.0 DAYS PER YEAR: 188 (new teachers)/186 (returning teachers) SCHOOL YEAR: 2024-25 Qualifications : Kansas Teaching Certificate/License, SPED endorsement required (or willingness and ability to pursue SPED endorsement) "Highly qualified" status according to KSDE and federal regulations Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Reports To : Principal or administrator designee Job Goal : Provide an effective program of instruction based on the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Performance and Responsibilities : Builds instruction upon previously learned materials. Uses a variety of teaching materials and techniques as appropriate for the content area. Uses a variety of teaching materials and techniques as appropriate for all students/adults as assigned. Provides for regular assessment of student/adult needs and progress. Provides for appropriate re-teaching, adaptation, and/or extensions if needed. Provides evidence of individual student/adult learning. Prepares for assigned classes and can show evidence of such preparation. Demonstrates effective skills in reading, writing, math, and speaking as necessary for assignment. Demonstrates command of the subject matter for which he/she is assigned to teach/coordinate. Implements the district's written curriculum and the state and district assessment program. Demonstrates commitment to learn and apply new instructional and technology skills as related to assignment. Works with other members of the staff in planning building or district curriculum, instructional goals, objectives, methods, and assessments. Attends and participates in assigned staff/team meetings. Cooperates with others regarding the selection, use, and sharing of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning. Establishes and maintains communications with students, parents, colleagues and others as related to assignment. ADDENDUM TO TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION__SPECIFIC TO SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS: Maintain current knowledge of special education laws and regulations and meet their requirements. Perform accurate, functional and relevant assessment of individual student's learning needs for eligibility and educational programming. Maintain current and accurate Individual Education Plans. Work in a problem-solving manner with other staff and parents to develop a program that supports student growth and success. Work collaboratively with staff to develop appropriate modifications, curriculum, and educational environments for students with exceptionalities. Work with a variety of students with exceptionalities from all legally recognized domains. Will be required to attend a Special Education Academy. Job Goals: Provide support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living. Delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines. Collaborating with other teachers, professional staff and administrative staff in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents and/or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
