Under the general direction of the Systems Manager, this positionprovides support for applications, services and servers at the University of Massachusetts Global. This position is responsible for thesetup, installation, configuration, upgrading, and evaluation phases of providing applications, services, and servers for customer use.Provide technical, instructional, and administrative support to the UMass Global constituencies related to applications, services, andservers.
This position is CA remote but has responsibilities requiring occasional on-site Central office visitation (Orange County,CA).
NOTE: unless otherwise indicated, work hours are based on Pacific Time.
The hiring range for this position is $37.00 -$42.00 per hour. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: geographical location, knowledge, skills,years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members. TYPE OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General directionfrom the Systems Manager POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions: 100% oftime Manage application and server backups across the enterprise, including on premises (Hyper-V and VMware) and cloud(AWS) Diagnose, replace, upgrade, and repair applications, services, and servers for Windows and Linux Install new, upgradeexisting, and troubleshooting application, service, or server related issues Use and maintain tools such as SCCM, SCVMM, and SCOM tomanage operating system patching, and enterprise services Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for reporting and systemautomation Handle technical inventories, shipping logistics, and equipment organization Perform work in accordance withsystems diagrams, both in-house and on-site Create and maintain training documentation for team members supporting applications andservices Continuously assess all documented processes for improvements Provide high quality support to universitycustomers Work with teams and team members to provide our customers an excellent experience Perform other duties asassigned Non-Essential Functions of the Job: None identified at this time POSITION SPECIFICATIONS ANDREQUIREMENTS: Special Conditions of Employment: Position may be required to work flexible hours particularly givencampuses' extended hours of operation, and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Previous Experience: Required: Experience and knowledge in Cloud hosting instance management and creation (AWS) Experience andknowledge of PowerShell and the ability to write scripts for automation or reporting purposes Experience and knowledge of Linux andusing a Linux Shell (RHEL, Bash) Experience and advanced knowledge understanding of server virtualization technologies(Hyper-V) Experience and knowledge of Cluster/Highly Available environments (Hyper-V) Experience and advanced knowledge ofWindows Server and Desktop Operating Systems Experience and advanced knowledge of VDI and technologies used in support of virtualdesktops (Hyper-V, RDS) Experience and knowledge in the Office 365 environment Thorough knowledge and understanding of,including proven experience, in using applications, servers, and services 3+ years of application, server maintenance experience,supporting service desk staff using enterprise tools such as SCCM, SCVMM, and SCOM Experience and knowledge of industry trends andbest practices, including knowledge in using Microsoft technologies Proven ability to exercise independent thinking and judgment tocarry out duties in a timely manner, even when faced with interruptions, distractions, and fluctuating workload Strong commitment tocustomer service and teamwork Desired Qualifications: Technical Certifications (Examples: MCITP, A+,etc.) Prior experience providing support in an academic environment Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, MIS, orBusiness Administration and/or relevant experience Knowledge and Education: Experience and advanced knowledge offundamental operations, problem diagnosis and correction of relevant computer software, hardware, audio visual and otherequipment Ability to create and understand schematic diagrams, and system diagrams Knowledge and experience of customerservice practices Strong oral and written communication skills Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices andSoftware: Use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office software, printers, and typical office equipment License(s) andCertificate(s): Desired where relevant to position and skillsets Contact with Students: Contact with students islimited Contact with Faculty and/or Staff: Frequent, daily, interactions with faculty and staff Contact withCommunity and Vendors: Incumbent will have contact with vendors and will work within the guidelines established by University ofMassachusetts Global.
