Supply and Inventory Specialist Location Wake County, NC : Description of Work The Supply and Inventory Specialist is located in the Logistics Section of the North Carolina State Bureau of investigation (SBI) and is responsible for the management of the law enforcement equipment room, SBI expendable supplies room, mail distribution center and shipping/receiving dock. This position provides support for inventory management and warehousing activities, communicates with carriers, suppliers, and customers to resolve issues and ensures smooth operations, and implements process improvements to enhance logistics operations. This position assists with SBI inventory, surplus, and the receipt and delivery of supplies across the agency; therefore, strong skills in logistical planning and organization is desired. This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays after a successful training period. Any telework will be under the conditions of the State Teleworking Program Policy, and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time at the employer's sole discretion.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL the following: Demonstrated experience with inventory management and/or warehousing activities. Demonstrated customer service experience answering questions and resolving problems. Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Physical ability to lift and move supplies and materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Must possess a valid driver license. Selected candidates will undergo and must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation which includes: pre-employment polygraph examination; credit and arrest checks; interviews with associates, personal and business references; verification interviews of employers; verification of education achievement; urinalysis drug screening; and submission of fingerprints. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
