The operation's commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.DescriptionUnder limited supervision, plan, organize, manage and evaluate assigned operations, including but not limited to, daily production, product quality, environmental management, safety, or maintenance. Supervise through Senior Process Controllers.Establish tactical and strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures in assigned area within the businessDirect Supervisors and other staff in daily operationsInspect daily operations and projects in progress and upon completion to ensure quality of workProvide administrative and technical direction to staff; interpret policies and procedures established by regulatory agenciesOversee and recommend the selection of key staff; participate in the selection of staffWork with employees to correct deficienciesImplement disciplinary procedures and recommend terminationsInvestigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessaryForecast necessary fund for staffing, materials and supplies, and capital improvement projectsSubmit budget recommendations and justifications; monitor and control expendituresDevelop, plan and coordinate the work plan for assigned projects and responsibilities, which may include project management, cost estimates and program developmentCoordinate work with other units and site departmentsProvide information and resources to site officials and other departmentsReview Capital Improvement Plans and make recommendationsEvaluate infrastructure, facilities and operating systems for needed maintenance and repair.Oversee and supervise:Designs for PLC, DCS, HMI, and SOW specifications for Process Automation systemsSystem documentationProcess optimization and Advanced Control SystemsOversee and coordinate with MIS on PCN and other joint responsibilitiesResponsible for long term planning for up to one yearReview and approve:Drawings for new projectsControl narrativesCommissioning plansConstruction sites10 year to life of mine plan for Process AutomationCoordinate the activities of consulates and contractorsPerform other duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:High School diploma or GEDandseven (7) years related operational experience,includingsupervisory or management experience,ORBachelor's degree and three (3) years related operational experience,includingsupervisory or management experienceSeven (7) years working with PLC/DCS's including HMI's, loop tuning, alarm management and historians in an operating plant.Two (2) years working with APC/Expert systemsTwo (2) years working with advanced sensorsAbility to develop/implement/maintain the department's safety program, and alarm management program that protects all personnel and equipmentAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsSkill in following safety practices and recognizing hazardsAt least one project where candidate was responsible for coordinating the activities of one or more outside contractorsProficiency with at least two PCS manufacturesStrong analytical/troubleshooting skillsAbility to read and modify electrical schematics, P&ID's and PFD'sAbility to plan, prioritize, direct, and manage a diverse number of operational areas, projects and activitiesStrong English skills, both oral and writtenStrong managerial and supervisory skillsPreferred Qualifications:Trained ABB, Delta V, Foxboro, or Honeywell DCS'sTrained in Modicon or Rockwell PLC'sExperience in OSIsoft PI SystemCrush/Convey, Concentrator, Filter Plant, Moly Plant, Tailings, Pumping, Power Distribution, Smelting, Acid/Chemical Plant, or SX/EW, Rod/Refinery process experienceRobotics experienceAbility to working a culturally diversified workforceHigh-level negotiation and communication skillsCriteria/Conditions:Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsMust be able to work in a potentially stressful environmentWork is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and seeOccasionally may be required to life moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workdayPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard-hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFreeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable State lawsWhat We Offer YouThe estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$98,000-$137,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
