Full job description CANDIDATE PROFILE The new Superintendent of Decatur ISD will be a transformational leader who is focused on student achievement and District stability. The future Superintendent will become the face of the district to our students, parents, staff, and community. The candidate must be a person of integrity and an effective communicator with all stakeholders. The selected candidate will have demonstrated the necessary financial oversight skills to successfully guide the District through tough economic times.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE Able to work in partnership with the Board of Trustees, staff, students, parents and community to build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation Ability to provide a clear, compelling vision for the future A highly effective communicator and "people person" with strong interpersonal skills and a proven record of maintaining
effective two-way communication with all stakeholders Ability to analyze critical needs of the district and work collaboratively to design, implement, refine, and evaluate instructional programs in order to continuously improve the district Strong background in school finance and successful budget development Ability to navigate the local and state political landscape to plot a course leading Decatur ISD to achieve academic, fiscal and physical success A professional educator with experience as a successful teacher, campus and/or central office administrator, and/or superintendent MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree- Required; Doctoral Degree- Preferred Texas Superintendent Certification- Required Principal Experience- Required; Central Office Experience- Preferred Ten (10) years' education experience with at least five (5) years teaching experience Advanced leadership and communication skills Residency within Decatur ISD SALARY AND BENEFITS Decatur ISD values their teachers, professional support staff and administrators.
