Summary
We are hiring for First Pres Summer Camp Teachers. is designed for infants through Kindergarten for the months of June and July. Camp begins June 3rd and runs through July 26th. Hours are 9:00am-2:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Camp is full of fun-filled activities, free play, crafts and snacks, musical activities, playground time and of course daily bible stories. Duties
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to all DSS and DHEC regulations and all First Presbyterian Church policies and procedures to include but not limited to:
a. proper adult-to-child ratios, diaper changing or bathroom procedures, safety and security regulations, proper food administration
b. complete required training and health screenings as required by DSS
c. complete Child Protection Training as required by FPC
2. Ensure physical and emotional safety of all children in your care:
a. Maintain class rosters
b. Administer proper signing in and out of children; be familiar with designated parties for pick-up
c. Abide by discipline policies which require a kind tone and prohibit physical punishment
d. Be watchful for physical or emotional abuse; fulfill obligation as a Mandatory Reporter
3. Meet all basic needs of all children in your care
a. Provide snacks and meals as scheduled
b. Change diapers or schedule regular bathroom breaks
c. Discipline in a healthy manner that promotes positive behavior
d. Provide physical, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual support and stimulation for each child
e. Provide age appropriate guidance for developmental, social, and emotional needs
4. Nurture children in a manner that demonstrates Christ's love:
a. Develop relationships of trust and continuity with each child
b. Interact with the children through play and activities
c. Talk, read, and sing to and with children about Jesus
d. Hold and rock children as needed (tired, upset, etc)
e. Give hugs, smiles, and cuddles
f. Demonstrate kindness, patience, and fun!
5. Maintain relationships with parents
a. Speak regularly with parents or designated parties at drop off and pickup
b. Provide good "customer service" in honest, but gentle, communication
c. Support their requests and needs by partnering with them and their childcare preferences
6. Classroom Management
a. Arrive promptly each day to ensure all necessary supplies are available for the day
b. Welcome parents and children into an organized space
c. Complete assigned activities per curriculum
d. Clean chairs, tables, toys, books, changing stations, etc in keeping with sanitation procedures
Other Duties and Essential Functions:
1. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
2. Communicate effectively in English
3. Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy
4. Arrive promptly each day to receive instruction
5. May sit for long periods of time
6. Stand for long periods of time
7. Frequent walking
8. Frequently bend or stoop
9. Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs
10. Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs Requirements
All Childcare Workers should exhibit the following characteristics as a Staff Member of First Pres Church:

Act with integrity, humility, and flexibility
Have a willing heart, teachable spirit, and positive attitude
Conduct themselves professionally and refrain from gossip and slander of any form
Be reliable and dedicated
Be polite, friendly, and courteous
Minimum Requirements:
Have a general knowledge and understanding of children and their needs
Must be at least 16 years of age and currently enrolled in high school, or having completed the equivalent of a high school diploma
Must pass all screening requirements per DSS and First Presbyterian policies to include: health assessments, drug screening, background checks Nice To Haves We are hopeful that you can work all 7 weeks of camp. We are closing the week of July 4 th to hopefully prevent some of the staffing problems that exist over the summer months. We do realize that family vacations have been set in advance so please make sure to let us know if there is additional time you need to take off. Benefits

First Presbyterian's Nursery School is a registered program that serves parents of children ages three months through two and half years. Our goal is to help infants and toddlers feel happy and secure at church, feel good about themselves, and learn that God loves them. We provide opportunities for their spiritual, social, and developmental growth through play activities in a Christian environment.
