As a counselor, you will play a pivotal role in fostering creativity, personal growth, and positive relationships among campers. Responsibilities:
Mentorship and Guidance: Serve as a positive role model and mentor for campers, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Provide guidance and support to campers as they navigate challenges and develop their talents in the performing arts. Facilitate Creative Expression: Lead and assist with performing arts activities such as drama, music, dance, and visual arts, encouraging campers to express themselves creatively. Collaborate with campers to develop and rehearse performances for showcases and events. Social-Emotional Learning: Implement activities and discussions focused on social-emotional wellness, self-awareness, empathy, and communication skills. Support campers in building resilience, coping strategies, and positive relationships with peers. Field Trips and Excursions: Plan and supervise off-site excursions and field trips that complement the camp curriculum and provide opportunities for cultural enrichment and recreational activities. Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during all outings, adhering to established protocols and procedures. Requirements
Qualifications:
Experience working with adolescents in a camp, educational, or youth development setting. Background in performing arts (e.g., theater, music, dance, visual arts) and a passion for creative expression preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with campers and fellow staff members. Knowledge of social-emotional learning principles and experience facilitating related activities or workshops. First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain certification prior to camp). Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment and adapt to the needs of diverse campers.
