Full job description Title Long Term Substitute Teacher
Location New Beginnings Family Academy, 184 Garden St., Bridgeport, CT 06605
Description The Long Term Substitute Teacher must be committed to and advocate for NBFA's mission to provide students a rigorous education that ensures academic success and builds character in partnership with their families. In the event of teacher absences or a long–term assignment, the Guest Teacher is responsible for delivering challenging and engaging instruction in the content area(s) as well as fostering and maintaining open lines of communication with students and families. The Guest Teacher must comply with state and federal education laws and regulations at all times.


Principal Responsibilities

Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences; Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and special needs; Work collaboratively with Special Education Teachers and Interventionists to ensure that children meet IEP goals; Continually use data to inform instructional decisions; Effectively use developmentally appropriate lesson plans for daily activities; Provide a structured positive classroom that encourages students to think critically throughout the learning process; Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures; Communicate effectively and regularly, orally and in writing, with students and parents; Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment school-wide; Participate in school-wide and grade-level data teams and Professional Learning Communities to share best practices and improve overall school performance; Ensure student growth is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification; Establish and maintain cooperative and respectful working relationships with students, parents, and all school personnel; Help meet school-wide student performance goals; Satisfy professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, attending grade level meetings, and professional performance of duties; Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and leaders. Requirements Certification, Knowledge, and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Education or Early Childhood Education preferred or appropriate subject matter Working toward State of CT Teaching Certification 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 013, 113, 305 preferred Aspire to master content area or subject matter Be willing and able to receive constructive criticism to achieve goals Understand that all work responsibilities are subject to performance goals and/or targets established as part of the Board's and NBFA's organizational planning Fervently believe in NBFA's mission and be willing to work diligently to positively impact the life outcomes of our students Start Date 8/19/24
