Description:
Education: PhD or Master's degree with specialized training and extensive experience with Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and Inspection fields. Candidate is required to have all the following: professional license, or certifications (current or expired) as AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWE), AWS Certified Welding Inspector, AWS Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS), International Institute of Welding Engineer (IWE), American Petroleum Institute (API) 510 Certified Pressure Vessel Inspector and API 570 Certified Process Piping Inspector.
Experience: 25 or more years of experience; 20 or more years in a highly specialized area applicable to the special or unique needs of the task; recognized as a national leader in applicable subject matter.
Typical Duties: Expert advice in highly specialized area of organization management but not limited to the following:
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) shall provide when requested, pre-fabrication submittal review and approval, fabrication submittal review and approval, provide input.
• Welding SME shall aid in the development of fabrication inspection plans, hold point inspections in fabrication shops, and witness fabrication shop activities per developed Inspection plans.
• Provide General Welding Inspection SME support as needed if not described above.
• SME shall represent LANL in the witnessing of hold points, surveillance inspection program, surveillance inspection program support and critical fabrication processes.
• Provide mentoring to LANL Project support and discipline engineers.
• Provide feedback on fabrication shop performance.
• Travel to multiple Fabrication shops across the United States to perform the following but not limited to, SME Welding Inspection, Witnessing of critical hold points and technical support services.
Work week will vary depending on travel and project workload requirements.
