Structures Technician/ Construction Inspector

TRC is currently interviewing for a Roadway Technician/ Construction Inspector (TT-1 or TT-2) to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection Practice in Greensboro, North Carolina.


Function:
Under general supervision, the bridge/structures inspector applies the strong technical skills of a highly experienced field representative, researching and interpreting contract requirements to determine whether construction work is proceeding in substantial compliance with plans, contracts, specifications and special provisions. Job Duties:
Reads contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, and regulatory agency manuals.
Observes construction work such as trench excavation, pipe placement, backfill operations, pile driving, structure placement, steel reinforcement, concrete pouring, signalization and lighting, etc.
Performs density and asphalt tests; samples and verifies certification of materials
Reviews shop drawings within limited area of expertise; logs and reports materials and work.
Assists in directing the daily activities of less experienced staff.

Requirements
North Carolina DOT (NCDOT) certifications and previous transportation project experience is preferred, but not mandatory for employment.


Candidate should have at least one of the following:
NICET Highway Construction
ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification
NCDOT certifications or equivalent certifications from other states.
Current certifications are required, and previous project experience is preferred.
