About the Role:

The Structural Engineering Manager will lead the structures discipline in Southern California. In this position, you will lead multiple engineers in designing, reviewing, and winning new structures work. This is a key leadership position at RailPros that will interface with project managers and technical discipline managers. Your primary responsibilities are to lead structures work, provide technical leadership, develop new business, and ensure the adherence and implementation of the RailPros Quality Program. You will provide leadership and effective management of your discipline, identify and develop business opportunities within your discipline, identify and attend relevant regional industry events and conferences, coordinate resource needs, staff forecasting, hiring, employee mentoring and engagement, and identify internal and external training opportunities to foster continuous improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide strong leadership and effective management of the structural engineering discipline.
Foster positive client relations and effective teaming among staff and departments
Develop new business opportunities and lead proposal efforts for structures work
Lead and perform structures project work
Lead implementation of Quality Program in the structures discipline
Assess the resource requirements for projects and ensure the allocation of the right talent.
Forecast staffing needs and oversee the hiring process
Provide mentoring and career development opportunities for staff
Promote employee engagement and ensure a positive work environment
Facilitate internal and external training opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of your team.
Provide recommendations for raises and bonuses for your team

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proficiency with electronic communication including e-mail and text, as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills
Ability to conduct presentations and participate in media interviews
Represent his or her organization at important functions or conferences

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
10+ years prior structural engineering experience required
3+ years railroad and transit structures design experience including accelerated bridge construction
In-depth knowledge of industry standards and guidelines

Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's Degree or equivalent
Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
Ability to obtain a Structural Engineer (SE) license

Additional Information:
Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $180,000 / year.
