A self-storage attendant is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a self-storage facility, including renting units to customers, maintaining the facility, and providing excellent customer service to tenants.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist customers with renting storage units, answering inquiries, and providing information about the facility and its services.
Process rental agreements and leases for new and existing customers, including explaining terms and conditions.
Handle customer payments and process transactions for rental fees and other charges.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility, including cleaning common areas and storage units as needed.
Monitor the facility's security measures, including gate access control, security cameras, and alarm systems, to ensure customer and property safety.
Keep track of available storage units and monitor occupancy levels to maximize space utilization.
Maintain accurate records of customer accounts, leases, payments, and other transactions.
Assist in marketing efforts, such as promoting available units and services to potential customers.
Assist customers with moving into or out of storage units, providing support and guidance as needed.
Address customer complaints and concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues when necessary.
Generate reports on occupancy, rental income, and other relevant metrics for management review.
Qualifications and Skills:
Property management experience preferred
Candidate must have ability to float between the storage facility and property
Previous experience in a customer service role is often preferred; experience in self-storage or a similar industry is a plus.
Proficiency with computer systems, including rental and payment software, is important for managing transactions and records.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
Accuracy in handling paperwork, records, and financial transactions.
Ability to resolve customer issues and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift and move heavy items.
