Responsibilities
• Follow physicians' orders for resident care and directions of the physical therapist• Provide appropriate treatment to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of function• Ensure resident's room is ready for receiving• Make resident comfortable and assist with personal possessions• Assist residents with packing and transporting• Perform assigned tasks according to policies and procedures• Cooperate with inter-department personnel• Create and maintain a warm and positive atmosphere• Report complaints and grievances made by residents• Notify facility when absent from work• Assist residents with daily care functions• Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures• Assist with lifting, turning, moving, and transporting residents• Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions• Assist residents in preparing for medical tests and activities• Provide eye and ear care• Assist in preparing residents for physical examination• Assist with food service functions• Attend training and educational classes• Follow safety and sanitation protocols• Use and operate equipment properly• Review and follow care plans• Maintain resident confidentiality• Treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect• Work in various conditions and circumstances• Report grievances, complaints, and abuse• Follow general health requirements• Assist with evacuation of residents
Requirements
• Must possess a certificate for state tested nursing assistant• Must be a licensed S.T.N.A. in accordance with laws of this state• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and deal tactfully with others• Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm• Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles• Must be able to move throughout the workday, speak and write in English, and cope with mental and emotional stress• Must have the ability to see and hear adequately, function independently, and meet general health requirements• Must be able to relate to and work with various individuals• Must be able to push, pull, move, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds• May be necessary to assist in resident evacuation during emergencies
