Anchored at the University of Oklahoma, Startup OU is an entrepreneurship hub that fosters and champions the next generation of entrepreneurs and emerging talent. Our organization serves as an entry point into the University of Oklahoma, state, and regional startup ecosystems; a connection point for startup founders and university resources and talent; and a launch point for university-affiliated and community startups into the state and regional economies.
The Startup OU Venture Development Manager is a key member of the Startup OU team, working with the Startup OU Director to plan and execute outreach, training, and mentoring initiatives. The Venture Development Manager will be responsible for a broad spectrum of tasks and projects supporting programs designed to assist aspiring and early-stage innovators develop and launch new ventures. The Venture Development Manager will support the management and implementation of the Startup Launchpad programs, as well as support the creation and implementation of the Startup Studio program. Startup Launchpad encompasses all venture support programs, including industry-agnostic pre-accelerator, accelerator, and incubator programs, targeting aspiring, first-time, and experienced entrepreneurs across the central Oklahoma region. Startup Studio is a technology commercialization program that leverages a cross-functional team of student consultants to support opportunity identification and commercial exploitation for undeveloped university innovations, generating spinout technology startups around disclosed intellectual properties.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
Assist with preparation and execution of Startup OU's programs focused on assessing, training, and developing strategies for emerging ventures across central OklahomaAdvise emerging ventures in ideation, early-stage development, venture building, launch, capitalization, and other similar processesCoordinate Startup Launchpad and Startup Studio programs support in partnership with key organizations across the entrepreneurial ecosystemPromote Startup Launchpad and Startup Studio programs and implement processes for application, evaluation, and feedback for applicantsSupport day-to-day operations in support of Startup OU programs and program participantsEngage with statewide and regional partner networks to market and execute programsCoordinate mentorship and team development effortsCoordinate resources to assist emerging ventures launch, implement business plans, secure investment or other funding support, etc.Develop program goals and objectivesMeet with stakeholders to discuss programs status and goalsProvide oversight of ongoing projectsAssess program effectiveness and identify areas of improvementManage program documentation, data collection, and reporting to relevant stakeholdersPerform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position
Job Location
Required Education: Bachelors degree, AND: 48 months of program development, program management or related experience. Equivalency Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelors degree for a total of 96 months of related experience.
