Job summary
Augusta University is looking for a Staff Nurse for the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home.The Staff Nurse will be responsible for supervising employees in all nursing units and ensuring quality patient care.This is a full-time position located in Augusta, Georgia.

Responsibilities
• Assist nursing personnel in administering total patient care• Serve as Charge Nurse or Medication Nurse for a nursing unit• Serve as Nursing Supervisor for the facility• Provide support to nursing staff throughout the facility• Assess patients as needed and contact Physician as indicated• Provide direction and guidance in the use, care, and control of material resources• Participate in problem solving affecting the care of patients with complex needs• Respond to emergency situations and document emergency care provided• Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Nursing• Current, active licensure in good standing as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification• Preferred experience in the care of Geriatric patients in a long-term care environment• Preferred experience in exercising leadership skills• Ability to assume charge nurse position in an assigned unit• Ability to supervise others• Knowledge of AU/GWVNH policies and procedures• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases• Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of nursing as it applies to the geriatric population
