Staff Development Coordinator

Job summary
The Nurse Educator is responsible for orienting and educating nursing personnel in the nursing center.They ensure safe and effective nursing care according to guidelines and procedures.The position reports to the Director of Nursing.

Responsibilities
• Develop education programs for nursing staff based on their needs.• Teach staff current accepted patient care and nursing center practices.• Supervise and monitor new nursing employees during their orientation period.• Perform annual competency testing and evaluation.• Clinically appraise nursing staff performance for areas of education.• Oversee the Employee Health Program, including vaccine administration and tracking.• Follow federal, state, and facility guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current RN license.• Minimum three years of clinical experience preferred.• Two years of clinical experience in long-term care nursing with one year as an educator preferred.• Excellence in clinical nursing skills required.• Experience in Gerontology preferred.• Training and/or experience in adult learning preferred.
