About IEA -
The Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA) serves as the Department's liaison to state, local, and tribal governments and non-governmental organizations. IEA facilitates communication between the Department and these stakeholders regarding HHS initiatives and policies.
Duties
As a Staff Assistant, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Office of
Intergovernmental and External Affairs to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Developing routine plans or schedules using standard references and existing
information.
Responding to inquiries concerning organizational projects and activities.
Researching information requested and providing that information as required.
Managing and preparing responses to a wide variety of internal and external correspondence for the
office.
Establishing and continually reviewing, updating, and developing complex administrative office
procedures that affect the orderly and efficient flow of work within and outside of the office.
Responding to administrative issues and inquiries and resolving a variety of conflicts regarding
administrative policies and processes.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate would possess the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:
Must have one year of experience, in the private or public sector performing at least three (3) of
the following:
1. Coordinating schedules, calendars, and/or projects for senior management or equivalent level.
2. Reviewing various materials (such as: correspondence, memos, talking points, approval packages,
assessments etc.) for complete content, factual accuracy, formatting, grammar and/or spelling.
3. Scheduling events, assembling materials in preparation for events and meetings, and/or briefing
senior management on anticipated topics.
4. Exercising a high degree of tact, intelligence, diplomacy and/or versatility in coping with
problems
and/or dealing effectively with senior staff officers/management and/or staff.
Salary
$63,526 - $82,580
