Staff Accountant Tacoma, WA Direct Hire $70-78k *Position is fully onsite *Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm Kelly is seeking a Staff Accountant to work with our client, a premier non-profit educational institution, on a direct hire basis – starting ASAP! The Staff Accountant will:
Perform general ledger accounting and other related duties for the organization
Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
Maintain the general ledger
Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books
Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks
Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, student accounts, and other financial accounts
Work closely with Accounting Associates on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
Coordinate with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems; recommend updates to enhance the accounting software
Assist CFO and school leadership with the annual budgeting process
Generate and work with budget managers on their monthly expense reports
Maintain knowledge of acceptable GAAP accounting practices and procedures
Comply with internal control policies and practices
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred but not required
3+ years of relevant general ledger accounting experience
Knowledge of general financial accounting and non-profit fund accounting preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
