We invite you to be part of our evolution.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Sr. Specialist - Capital Governance - Project Cost Controller & Estimator to join our Project Controls team in Toronto. This is a full-time position.This role will be responsible for the following activities, for the main Base Metals projects (Growth, Sustaining and R&D, in Canada, Brazil and Indonesia):Define the budgeting and cost control processes and procedures for the entire portfolio (Exploration, FEL1, FEL2, FEL3 and Execution), in line with best market practices and considering the different locational contexts (Brazil, Canada and Indonesia).Implement training programs for the project management team and other stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned with established standards.Support project teams in improving budgeting and cost control practices.Manage the multi-annual capital budgeting and performance management.Lead technical Planning and CapEx analyzes across the entire portfolio of Base Metals projects, aiming to identify potential gaps and deviation trends in a timely manner to allow effective mitigation actions.Prepare and present reports to senior management and project stakeholders, highlighting good practices, risks and potential deviation trends in relation to the approved baseline for the projects.Evaluate and implement automated systems and tools that facilitate the cost control routine and put the organization in line with best market practices.Lead the interface with various corporate areas (FP&A, Accounting, etc.), ensuring the alignment and optimization of internal processes.Support project risk analyses.Support the improvement of other disciplines in the Project Controls area: Planning, Risk Management and Change Management.Ensure compliance with the guidelines and defined operational goals and their adherence to the company's strategic plan.Redesign current capital allocation and governance processes and integrate these with Base Metals' corporate governance.About YouEducation:Degree in Engineering, Economics or related field.Desirable: Postgraduate degree in project management and/or specific certifications (PMI-PMP, AACE - CCP, AACE - CEP, AACE - EVP, etc.).Experience:Minimum of 10 years of experience in budgeting and/or cost control of capital projects, including interfaces with other disciplines, such as: Engineering, Construction, Contract Management, Procurement, etc.Skills:Strong knowledge of project cost control and estimating in capital projects.Experience in Earned Value Management.Experience in technical audit of projects.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills.Detail oriented and able to work independently as needed.Results-oriented mentality.How can Vale grow your career?• Competitive salary• Attractive pension and benefits (company paid core coverage, flex health and dental coverage, flex accounts, disability plans and optional insurances)• Leave for all of life's reasons (vacation, flex, sick, top up for maternity/parental)• Flexible work arrangements• Work culture dedicated to safety, diversity & inclusion, and career growth.• Grow your career in a large and global company, and mining industry leader.• Employee Family Assistance Program• Online training and career development opportunities• Opportunities to advise and oversee the design, budget and construction of new mines and expansions.Difference Makes All the DifferenceAt Vale, we are committed to ensuring an inclusive work environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves.
