The Senior Regulatory Professional utilizes leadership skills, regulatory knowledge and experience gained to support internal cross-functional teams related to new product development initiatives. In addition, this role will be responsible for helping in establishing innovative solutions and processes to future compliance challenges.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Regulatory team member to join our pet care company. As a Sr. Regulatory Professional, you work with a team of professionals, drive regulatory compliance, and ensure our diverse range of products meet the highest industry standards. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements related to production, packaging compliance, product claims, analyzing and interpreting product regulations, and distribution of Spectrum Brands Pet Care & Cleanup products.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Senior Regulatory team member focused on providing expertise on new product development initiatives, claims and label review within the care, cleanup & hard goods space.
Process:
Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date, maintains and applies current knowledge of EPA (TSCA, FIFRA), FTC, CPSC and other agencies, DOT regulations and Product Safety Labeling requirements, along with local, regional, and international regulations governing Spectrum Brands products. Interpret and apply regulatory requirements to review and assess scientific substantiation, raw material specifications, formulations, and product labels to ensure compliance in product development, labeling, and distribution processes.Documentation and Record Keeping: Develop new and efficient processes to address future issues and identify initiatives and efficiencies to drive process improvement. Maintain accurate and comprehensive regulatory documentation. Ensure all records are organized, up-to-date, and readily accessible for internal and external audits. Maintain compliance with customer requirements for data submissions to websites and required governmental reporting. Respond to inquiries from governmental agencies, customers, and other stakeholders.Policy:
Regulatory Strategy: Help implement regulatory strategies that align with business goals and objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Marketing, Trade Compliance and Operations, to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.Industry Monitoring: Stay abreast of industry trends, scientific research, and emerging regulatory developments related to Spectrum Brands Pet diverse product lines. Provide recommendations and guidance to management regarding potential impacts on products and operations. Participate as needed in trade associations and industry advocacy efforts that support the business and/or help decrease regulatory burden.Professional:
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with and provide guidance to cross-functional teams, including Legal, Marketing, and Product Development, to address regulatory issues and ensure compliance across all business activities.Regulatory Training: Provide knowledge to the regulatory team of specialists, giving guidance, training, and support to ensure effective execution of regulatory compliance activities. Help develop and deliver regulatory training programs to internal stakeholders, including product development teams, marketing teams, and manufacturing personnel, to enhance regulatory awareness and understanding in compliance with current applicable regulations.Join our team at the forefront of the pet industry and contribute to the development of safe, high-quality products that meet regulatory standards.
Education and Experience Profile B.S. or B.A. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or similar science. Advanced degree preferred. Exceptions can be made for candidates with a B.A. in a non-science discipline, coupled with an advanced degree or direct relevant and material experience working directly with the required regulatory agency and existing contacts with the individual states.
5+ years of experience in the regulatory field
Regulatory submission, state registration, SDS authoring experience
Required Skills Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Accomplished user of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
Proficient in SAP and SPX a plus
Work Environment This position will sit in our St. Louis, MO Corporate office and is a Hybrid role. Hybrid role offers work from home flexibility on Mondays and Friday. 10% Travel may be expected.
