How will you make an impact? The Senior Manager of Operations Strategy role is a cornerstone within Thermo Fisher's Contract Manufacturing & Value Assurance team, charged with shaping the initiatives that drive meaningful and sustainable improvements across our global manufacturing and supply chain operations. This critical position calls for a strategic influencer, someone who blends analytical rigor with understanding of operations to impact the trajectory of our company's profitability. This position will play a role in sculpting and leading co-manufacturing and operations initiatives, cost-out strategies, and supplier sourcing projects. By synthesizing data into plans and narratives, you will not only identify pathways to enhanced profitability but also identify and establish the building blocks of our future operational framework.
What you will do? Conduct thorough analyses in areas such as supply chain footprint mapping, dual sourcing and product transfer strategy, make/buy decisions, asset optimization, and risk management for contract manufacturing, supporting strategic decision-making processes. Conduct in-depth analyses to strategically evaluate and recommend products for co-manufacturing versus insourcing, using footprint analysis and current insourcing practices against core strengths to align with broader commercial strategies and value engineering principles. Develop high-quality comprehensive, strategic presentations, using analytical insights to craft compelling narratives and actionable recommendations, influencing decision-making across the organization's senior leadership. Develop strategies for the transition of products and technologies between co-manufacturing locations by developing seamless integration plans that align with divisional, regional, and corporate strategies. Collaborate with Sourcing and R&D teams to advance cost-out and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives, driving enhanced operational efficiencies and strengthening market position and profitability. Partner with product development and R&D teams to embed cost-efficient manufacturing and engineering solutions early in the design process, ensuring that cost-saving measures are integral from concept through to execution. Development and implementation of risk management strategies and performance measurement, enhancing supply chain resilience and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Lead stand-alone critical initiatives like demand & capacity matching, or sub-projects under the larger umbrella objectives, ensuring they are completed with rigor and precision. Use advanced Excel modeling techniques to build financial, operations models and conduct analyses, drawing on support from the internal analytics team in Costa Rica. Engage with leaders across the organization to understand their needs and challenges, providing strategic analysis that supports decision-making. Qualifications: A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in strategic operations, business analysis, or a related field, with a strong preference for experience in a multinational manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field; preferred MBA. Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis, with a high level of competence in Excel and the capability to learn and use new analytical tools swiftly. Demonstrated expertise to transform insights into clear and influential PowerPoint presentations that effectively convey the strategic narrative to various audiences. Results oriented leader able to initiate projects, and drive progress, embodying the intensity to propel critical initiatives forward. Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects with significant strategic and financial implications, adept at navigating ambiguous scenarios. Demonstrated success in managing high-visibility projects and initiatives, driving them from conception to successful execution. Strategic mindset, complemented by an innovative approach to operational challenges, anticipating needs, and acting as a catalyst for change within the organization.
