Responsibilities
• Collection and proper handling of venous and capillary blood specimens• Ensuring safety and comfort of customers• Transcribing medical orders and ordering appropriate laboratory tests• Answering departmental telephones and transferring calls• Obtaining, faxing, or receiving laboratory test results• Properly processing and labeling all specimens• Following proper identification procedures• Maintaining clean and sanitary work areas• Participating in Laboratory performance improvement activities• Being a resource for difficult sticks
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED preferred• Certification by NCA, ASCP, ASPT, or comparable institution desirable
