Join the dynamic team at the Department of Neurology within the School of Medicine! We're thrilled to announce an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Finance and Accounting Analyst.
Position Overview: As a Sr. Finance and Accounting Analyst, you will play a key role in providing financial and accounting analysis and support to the Department of Neurology. In alignment with the School of Medicine's initiative to centralize fiscal roles into pods, this position will supervise one staff member, ensuring the effective monitoring and analysis of all department accounts. This position will be responsible for budget preparation as well as review all transactions daily/weekly/monthly for variance to budget. This position will prepare reports, provide analysis to determine trends and recognizes issues and propose solutions to department leadership. Candidate must possess a broad understanding of the academic medical operations and possess fiscal and accounting skills and be able to apply them, as well as an understanding of the variety of fiscal and accounting processes, procedures and systems that impact the fiscal operation of the department. The department has an annual budget of $13M.
Primary Duties Include but not limited to: Researches, tracks, monitor and maintains all department accounts. Prepares analyses/reports of variance to budget. Responsible for the preparation of annual budget. Reviews trends, helps forecast future expenses/revenue based on trend analysis. Daily, Weekly, and Monthly activities to ensure performance to budget. Manages OneCard process/reconciliation and review. Monitors and reports on expenses for assigned accounts. Ensures transactions are coded properly, makes corrections as needed. Assists leadership teams with both department and division-specific review of revenue and expenses. Researches variance to budget, correcting entries as needed. Reviews and monitors grants, service contracts and activities (Lake, CRMC, etc) Prepares ad-hoc reports, queries etc as assigned. Assigns daily work and oversees a small team to ensure that all work is done properly and completed in a timely manner while providing training and on-the-spot corrections as needed. Shift Typically, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
