You'll learn more about this during the recruitment process.JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Director, Global Attractions strategically oversees all aspects of global attraction renovations. Provides technical & safety direction, inputs, and approvals for Universal Destinations and Experiences (UDX) Theme Park projects, inclusive of multiple attractions. The Senior Director also oversees a team that executes all ride/show projects funded from the Infrastructure Capital Program. As assigned, responsibilities may, and likely will, further include direct engineering contributions to major development projects. Additional responsibilities and authorities include interpretation, and enforcement of Universal technical requirements, review of technical team performance, interventional technical interface to outside design and production entities, and providing technical input and direction to project risk management/risk reduction activities. Tasks include concept feasibility, scope of work development and review, vendor assessment and selection, vendor oversight, risk identification and mitigation, field installation strategy, oversight of field test and adjust and SAT. In addition to the safety and technical aspects of the job, budget, schedule, and creative constraints will be incorporated into all decisions. Uses superior personal, interpersonal, managerial, technical, verbal, and written communication abilities to achieve departmental and company success. Work closely with SVP Tech Services, the other site Tech Services leaders, and SVP Planning & Strategy to organize & manage the entire portfolio for GAP Engineering projects.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategically leads a diverse, talented team of project managers and project engineers in developing & executing global ride/show venue renovations and asset replacements. Actively tracks long range project schedules and financials. Seeks to minimize impacts to operations while delivering quality projects. Ensures all Show and Ride equipment maintains the highest level of safety in accordance with Universal Specifications, accepted manufacturing practices and local standards. (When Project assigned: Enforce Show and Ride technical and safety principles to provide a quality product and necessary deliverables.Support and advise Project Management on how best to achieve this goal and keep UPR Core Safety & Engineering briefed on progress and issues. Is responsible to take UDX S&E direction to the project team). Supervise and guide project technical personnel (indirect or direct reporting relationships). Provides consultation to management to ensure consistent implementation of policies and implement policy enhancements.Drive safety & reliability improvements across all attractions. Exchange safety information across all parks and attractions. Monitor compliance with regulations and internal standards; develop new safety & efficiency technologies; and ensure that safety protocols reflect theme park best practices and cutting-edge ideas.Review and approve contract and legal documents related to Show and Ride systems as required for project work and as authorized by Engineering and Safety management.Makes direct engineering contributions to projects as required relative to engineering, code and standards compliance, Universal Specification compliance, and technical systems achievement of creative and business goals. Reviews the technical plans and results for UC projects as assigned. Enforces Universal's specifications, standards, and technical contracting methods. Assists with Universal Patent pursuit and defense. Serves as CORE safety approver.Oversee ADA compliance for Shows and Rides. Participate in Access Board meetings and activities. Develop and execute innovations/inventions that provide increased accessibility. Contributes to communication of common engineering issues and solutions between all Universal parks. Enhances consolidated use of UPR technical resources.Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:Supervise Exempt and Non-Exempt Team Members.Indirectly supervises efforts of vendors assembled to support specific project-related tasks.Number and types of staff will vary dependent upon the project.EDUCATION:Bachelor's Degree in applicable field required.Advanced Degree preferred.EXPERIENCE:10+ years' experience in direct theme park specific technical/engineering roles required or similar experience in related technical field.10+ years' projects experience within the entertainment/theme park industry required.Any experience in Theme Park development, construction, show and ride systems design or fabrication is preferred.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certified Project Management is preferred.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Some global travel may be required (less than 30%).Significant vendor management.Your talent, skills and experience will be rewarded with a competitive compensation package.Universal Orlando Resort.Here you can.Universal Orlando is an equal opportunity employer.
