Department Description

The Student Financials Department is responsible for the proper billing and collection of fees and income on behalf of the University. The unit provides guidance and assistance to students, graduates, and parents, related to student accounts. The unit also works with internal and external agencies. Knowledge of consumer law and UW-System and campus fee policies and procedures is necessary.

JOB DUTIES: Position Summary

This position primarily reviews deposits and is responsible for the timely and accurate posting of all revenue for the University. This includes daily payment processing, reconciling financial data, reporting, and troubleshooting complex errors. In addition, this position will provide administrative processing support, and provide customer service for not only students and their families, but also external entities and campus departments regarding their payments, collections, or billing accounts.
Shift: 7:45am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications

High School Diploma, Associate degree in accounting or related business field, preferred and 3-5 years¿ experience in an accounting or business office environment, preferably in a university or non-profit setting or equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved Strong oral and written communication skills Strong computer skills, with the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work with a diverse customer base Strong organizational skills Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment Ability to maintain confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with an interactive database system such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. Knowledge of UW-System policies and procedures for student tuition and fee assessment. Knowledge of federal, state and UW-System rules and regulations regarding collection policies and procedures. Terms of Employment

This is an on-going University Staff position, non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position is required to serve a six-month probation period.
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.
