Job DescriptionReporting directly to the Vice President for Strategic Affairs and Diversity, the Special Projects Manager will work with the VP on special initiatives in support of The Virginia Tech Difference: Advancing Beyond Boundaries (Virginia Tech's strategic plan) and the diversity strategic plans. Projects may revolve around strategic planning, the continuous planning process for the university, fiscal support, event planning, designing presentations, data collection and analysis, and administrative support.The Special Projects Manager may work on developing contact rosters, conduct web searches, build databases, write briefs on subjects supporting the VP's work, draft emails and correspondences, calendar support, and develop forms and approval processes as needed.The Special Projects Manager will be able to work independently, be a self-starter, maintain contact with the VP, maintain confidentiality, and provide timely updates and communication on projects.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in business administration or related area.Extensive organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage tasks across multiple concurrent projects.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and community partners.Experience coordinating and planning events in a higher education setting.Skilled at performing multiple duties related to programs and initiatives across a variety of university operational and administrative workflows.Ability to confidentially work with sensitive data and information.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in higher education, strategic planning, or project managementFamiliarity with working with VT campus stakeholders and partners.Working knowledge of tools such as Excel, Google/Microsoft Forms, QuestionPro, Qualtrics, Tableau, etc.Pay Band4Appointment TypeRegularSalary Information$25/hr +, commensurate with experienceReview Date5/30/2024Additional InformationThe successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.About Virginia TechDedicated to its motto,Ut Prosim(That I May Serve), Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to be leaders and problem-solvers.
