Job Description:
Position will primarily be responsible for working with Director as SDMI's Special Projects Manager. Position will be responsible for leading and managing SDMI's specialized, complex, high-risk, or innovative projects. Position will also be responsible for assisting with executing School Safety Planning Program for SDMI. Position will require in-state travel which may occur outside of normal office hours. Position may supervise program specific student worker position(s). Position will report to the SDMI Director.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading and managing SDMI's specialized, complex, high-risk, or innovative projects. Position will also be responsible for leading proposal submissions and seeking future opportunities. (40%)
Work directly with the SDMI team members to develop and execute school safety preparedness programs. These programs/tasks may include but are not limited to: Site Security Assessment tools and data collection, whole community school safety planning, emergency operations plans, school safety workshop content development, school exercise planning and execution. Position will be responsible for working directly with the State of Louisiana & School Districts. Position may supervise SDMI school safety student worker(s). (30%)
Responsible for contributing as a project manager to other projects or awards relating to emergency management. Responsible for working with small businesses, non-profits and other government organizations in developing emergency response capabilities to include other planning projects, exercises or trainings. This shall include but is not limited to: HAZMAT/CBRNE Planning, Supply chain management, resiliency studies, recovery planning, cyber-security, or other planning efforts within the disaster management spectrum. (10%)
Responsible for managing and contributing as a team member for all emergency management and homeland security planning projects. (10%)
Other duties as assigned. (10%)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of experience Responsible for managing and contributing as a team member for all emergency management and homeland security planning projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree and 15 years of experience. National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training - IS 700, IS 800, ICS 300, ICS 400; Certified HAZMAT Technician; Active Security Clearance.
Additional Requirements:
Field work and in-state travel is required; valid driver's license is required. Applicant must have excellent Microsoft Office and communication skills. Due to the nature and / or position responsibilities, this position shall be subject to motor vehicle records check and drug/alcohol screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
Physical Demands:
Physical ability and eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer terminal, copier, telephone and other standard office equipment; ability to sit in the same position for extended periods (5.5+ hours a day) at a time using continuous hand motions when entering data into the computer system. May occasionally be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
