Until Filled Steamboat Springs School District is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional /Bus Aid for the remainder ******** school year. SSSD's talented team prepares Steamboat's students to succeed in an ever-changing world, and be able to apply essential academic skills and knowledge in various content areas.This is a very part time position with scheduled hours 7:00-8:00am and 3:35-4:45pm, Monday-Friday . PAY RANGE INFORMATION:
Entry pay $21.61 This is a temporary assignment for approximatly 4 weeks to end June 3, 2024. Candiates need to be available to work from approximately 7:00am - 8:30am and 3:15p-4:45p (hours may vary) Mon-Friday.
This is not a benefit eligilble position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist students in loading and unloading the school bus. Be familiar with each students' health and behavior issues. Maintain a file containing health and behavior information, emergency procedures and contact information for each student. Understand and comply with CDE Guidelines for Transporting Students with Special Needs. Assist driver with student management. Complete and keep current CPI/restraint training provided by NW BOCES. Reports for duty 15 minutes before scheduled route time of departure. Ability to operate lift, wheelchair tie-downs and student transportation safety devices Help cleans bus interior at the end of each working day. Able to work with fellow staff, and collaborate for student success. Able to assist and secure students on and off bus front and back as needed and in emergency situation Seek and accept input from Special Education teachers for student needs while on transportation. Performs any other duties as assigned Transportation Manager. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED required. Maintain current Special Education trainings Physically be able to lift 50 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet. All offers subject to successful completion of physical and FBI/CBI background check Able to work a split schedule based on route schedule which is subject to change with student need ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Errors made in decision-making could potentially result in substantial cost to the District or damage the credibility of the District.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and Board of Education.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.
Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spread sheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.
Other Skills And Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, push/pull student equipment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
