Sous Chef - High-Volume Downtown Detroit Restaurant Are you a culinary leader with a passion for innovation and a flair for high-volume cooking? Join our team as a Sous Chef at one of downtown Detroit's premier dining destinations! We are seeking a talented and motivated individual who is ready to make a significant impact in our bustling kitchen.
Responsibilities: Assist the Executive Chef in managing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation. Oversee and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to standards of quality and consistency. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and execute creative menus that appeal to our diverse clientele while accommodating high volume demands. Maintain inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of food items to minimize waste and maximize freshness. Uphold strict sanitation and safety standards in accordance with health regulations and company policies. Demonstrate strong leadership skills by effectively delegating tasks, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a positive work environment. Requirements: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, or club environment. Culinary degree or equivalent culinary training preferred. Strong understanding of various cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and culinary trends. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve excellence. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
