About the Role: Software Manager, Vehicle Application Software
Join our dynamic Vehicle Application Software (VSW) team, where you'll play a pivotal role in crafting and delivering vehicle-side product features integral to our enterprise material handling solutions. As the manager of the VSW team, you'll be at the helm of the application-layer of our vehicle-side software stack. This entails spearheading the design, development, support, and continuous maintenance of the software. Collaborating closely with Product Management (PdM) and a Technical Project Manager (TPM), you'll define features, scope software releases, and ensure the team meets technical deliverables. The VSW team collaborates extensively with Test Engineering, Hardware, and other software teams, ensuring seamless development efforts and timely delivery of solutions to our customers.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of software engineers tasked with delivering vehicle application software.
Collaborate with PdM, TPM, and other engineering teams to define, scope, and develop distributed material handling solutions, owning the work breakdown for the vehicle application software component.
Advocate and implement modern software development practices to ensure the VSW team delivers safe, secure, and robust software in accordance with our product roadmap.
Participate in software architecture planning, including the incremental migration of legacy code to modern robotics software frameworks.
Communicate performance expectations to team members and provide timely feedback.
Monitor the team's progress towards release timelines and address any risks in a transparent manner.
Identify staffing needs for the VSW team and justify accordingly.
Manage and contribute to processes for handling escalated field support issues.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Proficiency in C++ programming and modern software engineering principles.
Strong command of Linux systems programming.
Excellent communication skills with a passion for fostering positive team culture.
Demonstrated leadership experience and a desire to lead a software team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in managing software teams.
Proficiency in agile methodologies.
Background in mobile robotics or autonomous vehicles.
Familiarity with ROS, ROS2, DDS, or other data-centric middleware.
Knowledge of modern task execution frameworks such as Behavior Trees.
