Job Description SummaryThe Control Systems Engineer will report to the Control Systems Manager within the GE Evendale Advanced Technologies Organization. The engineer will be responsible for the development and validation of flight critical subsystems that enable the safe operation of ground and flight test technology demonstrator vehicles. The maturation of these technologies is central to the realization of aviation industry sustainability goals in the first half of the 21st century.Successful entry-level and early career GE control systems engineers possess a diversity of educational backgrounds including, but not limited to: electrical, aerospace, mechanical, software, systems, and controls engineering.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesAs the Control Systems Engineer, you will:Participate in all facets of the systems engineering process – system architecture, systems engineering, and project managementDefine and formalize system, hardware, software, and human integration requirementsDefine and execute engineering lifecycle test, validation, and verification activitiesApply GE best practices and design standards to control system software designsModel systems to a level of fidelity and degree of accuracy consistent with the model's intended usageValidate and verify hardware/software designs in a diversity of system integration environments – from local desktop computer simulations to fully representative flight testsPresent designs and validation results to internal (GE) and external (customer, agency, government, …) customersCollaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environmentAdditionally, youwillresponsible to continually mature your personal and professional development through training opportunities, mentorship, and formal career path definition.Qualifications/RequirementsU.S. Person (Citizen, Permanent Resident, Green Card Holder, ...)Bachelor's Degree in Engineering at accredited college or university1-2 years minimum experience in an engineering environmentDesired CharacteristicsMaster's Degree at an accredited college or universityHighly-motivated, self-starting, and passionateExceptional communication skills and willingness to continually improve communication and influencing skills in more-distributed work environmentsExperience modelling system behavior in Simulink, NPSS, or other programming languagesCoding experience in MATLAB, python, C/C++, SCADE, VBA, etc.Control system design experienceKnowledge of thermodynamics and heat transferKnowledge of electrical engineering fundamentalsExperience formally representing cyber-physical Systems inSysML,Modelica, UMLDemonstrated team leadership, collaboration, andfacilitation skillsFlexible and friendly approach to working in teamsProject planning and project management experienceKeen listener and innate drive to succeedThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
