Are you interested in serving your community? Are you seeking a career in Public Health? Join Summit County Public Health! We are looking for a Software Engineer to work full-time (35 hours per week) in our Monday through Friday.
Software Engineers develop and maintain in-house computer programs and databases to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information to aide in the efficient operation of Summit County Public Health. The ideal candidate will have excellent coding skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, and the public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides general programming support services and develops documentation for 100% of work product. Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming. Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Develops and maintains programming of internal data systems. Provides ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Maintains internal Microsoft SQL databases. Develops data connections to external APIs to enhance functionality of systems. Develops custom data reports as needed. Works closely with staff and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and proposals. Provides recommendations for continuous improvement. Provides progress reports to internal stakeholders on all open projects every 30 days. Obliges, as set forth by the Summit County Public Health Emergency Operations Plan and within the scope of their employment, to be available for emergency service during routine and non-routine hours of operation including 24/7/365 availability. May be required to have medical clearance for respiratory protection or other personal protective equipment and may be exposed to inclement weather, extreme temperatures, unpleasant smells or odors, dust, dirt, fumes, airborne particles, pesticides, toxins or caustic chemicals. REQUIREMENTS High school diploma with related certifications or experience. Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field preferred. Three to five years of software engineering or software development experience. Experience managing the software development lifecycle. Current valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability and insurance coverage. WORKING ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee typically works in a normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office.
