The Simulation/Clinical Coordinator provides professional coordination of the simulation and clinical skills for interdisciplinary experiences in the Simulation Center. Manages the operations of the Simulation Center, including leading, organizing, and developing people and programs to accomplish goals, objectives, and missions. Coordinates educational services in the clinical settings to achieve equity of student clinical experiences according to the established standards of the St. Luke's College (SLC) nursing and/or health science programs and as dictated by professional standards and guidelines. Supports and coordinates job shadows, clinical/affiliation agreements, and clinical/preceptor placements at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's (UPHSL).

Simulation Coordinator Manages the daily operations of the Simulation Center. Organizes and prioritizes scheduling of the Simulation Center experience for all programs, including rooms, equipment, and faculty/educators. Ensures adequate provisions of supplies to meet Simulation Center demands. Manages information technology/systems, including virtual systems operation and support. Develops, implements, and evaluates simulation education using evidence-based standards of practice and care. Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately. The role may include scenario design and development, pre-simulation preparation, and implementation and facilitation. Provides input into the Simulation Center budget planning and management. Policy and procedure creation, oversight, revision, and enforcement. Manages warranties, preventative maintenance, and other contractual arrangements. Effectively sustains adequate job knowledge, professional growth, and problem-solving abilities, including current evidence in the field of nursing and health sciences simulation and clinical practice. Mentoring or training new educators/facilitators/operational staff. Assess, evaluate, and report use and outcomes of the Simulation Center. Other duties as assigned. Clinical Coordinator Establishes ongoing relationships with clinical agencies and educational institutions. Serves as a resource person for faculty and UPHSL staff/administration for clinical experiences at the hospital. Reports clinical data required by regulatory bodies and as needed for federal pass-through funding. Coordinates clinical education with didactic education for St. Luke' College. Collaborates with other institutions and agencies to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, etc. Coordinates clinical education requirements in compliance with institutions and agency standards. Coordinates the job shadow experiences and clinical preceptor education program at UPHSL. Manages clinical affiliation agreements for St. Luke's College and UPHSL to meet the needs of the College, hospital, health system and Siouxland region healthcare providers. Presents positive image at college and UPH functions and Communicates appropriately and professionally. Completes other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Nursing, Academic Dean, or President. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities appropriate to assigned rank. Basic UPH Performance Criteria Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to Minimum Requirements Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.
Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Education: Bachelor's degree in health-related field
Master's degree in health-related field
Experience: Two years of recent clinical experience in health-related field.
Preferred one year experience working with high fidelity mannequins and simulation platforms.
License(s)/Certification(s): Current licensure/certification in health-related field.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator preferred or commitment to obtain within 3 years.
ACLS, BLS, or PALS Instructor status highly recommended.
