BASIC PURPOSE:
Performs daily activities associated with the movement of products including but not limited to Export documentation, scheduling carriers, loading crates and boxes. Needs general material handling experience required.
MAJOR
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
OF JOB:
• Determines method of shipment based on customers' specifications and requests.
• Assures that orders and shipping quantities match packing documents.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
• Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers and protective padding.
• Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape, using strapping machine.
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operates tier-lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping platform to storage.
• Confirms physical shipment of goods and facilitates tracking of packages.
• Coordinates with carriers and freights forwarders to schedule pick-up of goods.
• Identifies errors on packing lists and invoices and correct them.
• Works in conjunction with senior supervisor to ensure that all outbound freight to complies with warehouse operations.
• Uses a warehouse management system to prepare accurate bills of lading for outbound freight.
• Ensures that drivers depart with appropriate paperwork.
• Ensures the accuracy of all shipping documents by strict adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Works as a team player.
• Performs ancillary duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma and/or two- year certificate required with three years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Computer Skills: Word, Excel
• Must be detailed oriented.
• Must be able to prioritize, and problem solve.
• Must be flexible and decisive.
• Must have knowledge of engineering drawings.
• Must be team-oriented to accomplish required goals.
• Must be able to absorb and utilize new concepts and ways to do things.
• Must be able to accept change to develop new ways of working
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for the duration of the shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to reach, lift, crawl as needed
