You will supervise tool performance, schedule, and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets and use mechanical, electronic, and PC/software skills to solve and repair equipment issues.Daily responsibilitiesAs a Shift Equipment Engineer, you will supervise the installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. You will maintain current records on equipment manufacturers' technical notices, upgrades, and safety issues. You will study equipment performance and reliability and establish programs and solutions for growing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. Lastly, you will provide technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations and define and write preventative maintenance schedules.Safety & QualityFinishes the required safety training and conducts all work according to safety policies and laws and then follows up on safety and quality-related issues immediately and works towards resolution with team membersPerforms and facilitates audits and submits good catches on safety issues to proactively reduce incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards, or environmental releasesOperates and maintains tools according to documentation and guidelines to ensure safety and quality expectations are metBuilds and modifies equipment procedures via approved TD change management methodsReviews and documents long-term down events to ensure root cause, follow-up documentation, and communication across the process area and 1st shift team.Reviews and identifies hardware-related failures and builds and performs plans to fix root causeCommunication & TeamworkCollaborates with supervisor and area leaders to build personal performance and development goalsPartners with 1st Shift Engineers and Shift Engineers/Technicians to complete daily prioritiesProactively communicates issues that could cause yield loss, excursions, defects, tool restrictions, or output loss by ensuring pass down is updated and accurately reflects the work performed and the tool's current statusesCommunicates current/upcoming tools issues and mitigation plansTechnical/Data AnalysisProvides solving support for complex problems to address root causes and provide effective and timely guidance to resolve equipment issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolutionSupports a culture of TPM including TPM metrics, WS health reports, CIP items, MTAGs, MOP documents, and restoration guidesAdvances inventory issues to the 1st shift team including ATIR, dead inventory, kitting BOMs, spare, etc.Assists with equipment installs and engineering testsDrives to increase tool uptime through systematic problem-solving and fixingAssists 1st shift engineering with long-term down equipmentIdentifies and reduces tool-generated defects to improve quality and resolves chronic equipment alarm issuesImproves tool availability by finding solutions to ongoing problemsOwns shift equipment performance metricsPartners with customers to develop hardware and software improvementsIdentifies the golden tool and optimizes the rest of the fleet to matchCrafts reports summarizing equipment availability, variability, and cost-reduction projectsProject Management/PlanningPartners with equipment owners to develop, prioritize, and lead projects to ensure work is completed within the required scope, schedule, and budgetTracks actions and provides issue path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time to support department business processes for new tool installations, modifications, and removalsQualificationsBS degree in science or engineering or equivalent experiencePrioritizes safety and qualityProject management and planning skillsProblem-solving skillsMust possess good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environmentAs a world leader in the semiconductor industry, Micron is dedicated to your personal wellbeing and professional growth.
