Job Summary
The Student Services Manager provides operational guidance and processing to the Financial Aid Office by performing the more technically demanding financial aid duties, including oversight of various programs, activities, processing, and reconciliation of various federal and state programs. Acts on behalf of the Director of Financial Aid when necessary. Supervise, evaluate, directs, trains, and assist in the hiring of all financial aid staff, student workers, and temporary employees, Supervises and manages scholarships, early awareness and outreach, and Financial Aid Literacy programs and staff. Monitors and reconciled all activity and knowledge of federal, state, MCCCD, and MCC policies and procedures. Work closely with the various third-party entities that directly, or indirectly impact the financial aid office. Support the college's enrollment management initiatives. Works in a One-stop Enrollment Services environment with a diverse population of administrators, faculty staff, students, and the public. Essential Functions
40% Administers, supervises, directs, plans, and evaluates the areas scholarships, Early Awareness & Outreach, and Financial Aid Literacy. Trains and directs the work of the financial aid staff, awards scholarships and financial aid, balances scholarship accounts, programs, including federal grant and loan programs, campus-based programs, internal and external scholarships, compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and institutional policies and regulations, compliance reporting, training, and financial aid systems. 20% Develops strong relationships with college, district, and community stakeholders by participating in committees and attending various campus meetings; liaison with various college district offices in coordinating reconciliation, reports, and ensuring compliance.
20%- Researches, analyzes and interprets federal regulations, funding agency guidelines, and financial aid policies and procedures, communicates new guidelines to staff, implements policies and procedures.
10% - Meets with students and parents to resolve scholarship and financial aid escalated issues. May participate in preparation and facilitation of presentation to classrooms, students, parents, and general public
10% Provides financial aid program administration i.e. Grants, Loans, FWS, scholarships to include but not limited to reconciliation Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or related field and five years of progressively responsible student services or related experience that includes such things as administration of policies and procedures, program oversight and two years of supervisory experience. OR
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and seven years of progressively responsible student services or related experience that includes such things as administration of policies and procedures, program oversight and two years of supervisory experience.
OR
High School Diploma/GED and nine years of progressively responsible student services or related experience that includes such things as administration of policies and procedures, program oversight and two years of supervisory experience.
Desired Qualifications
A. Bachelor's degree B. Three or more years experience with supervising/directing, training, and evaluating the work of others.
C. Two years or more experience with federal and state financial aid regulations and institutional requirements for administering aid programs in higher education
D. Two years or more experience managing financial aid, scholarships, early outreach programs, and/or financial aid literacy.
E. Two years or more experience utilizing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various technology platforms such as People soft, scholarship software, COD, etc. as it applies to financial and scholarship program management and compliance.
Special Working Conditions
Must not be in default or overpayment of federal financial aid funds. May require possession of a valid State Of Arizona Class D Driver's License or other state driver license that meet district minimum standards regarding driving.
