JOB SUMMARY: To plan, direct and assign the activities of service linemen in the construction and maintenance of distribution and service facilities. To direct and assign activities to repair electrical problems and outages. To ensure work is performed in a safe manner. To plan, direct, and assign the activities of the Service Department Assistant Administrator, Service Department Specialists and Night Dispatchers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists Associate Chief Operations Officer and plant supervisors in developing viewpoints, objectives and policies. Prepares annual budget for Service Department. Performs the duties of the Dispatcher as required. Responds to power outage and electrical problem calls, serves as Storm Coordinator for Team #2 as needed. Writes work orders for service connections and outdoor lighting. Coordinates new installations, changeovers, response to power outages and customer complaints regarding the work of the Service Department. Approves maintenance on vehicles assigned to Service. Alerts Engineering Department of poles or lines that need attention. Alerts Tree Trimming Supervisor of trees that should be cleared from lines. Performs all necessary personnel functions for employees in Service Departments. Performs as on-call supervisor as scheduled on a rotating basis; available for call-in whenever needed Ability to maintain reliable, predictable and reasonable attendance. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Must maintain a valid drivers' license from state of residence. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Must maintain any assigned vehicle. Must be available for after hours work which would include working fair share of all necessary overtime. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must know rules and regulations governing BrightRidge. Must be familiar with the duties of each department. Must be familiar with pertinent electric codes and safety regulations. Must possess the ability to supervise effectively. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with consumers. Must be able to operate computer applications relevant to the position. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, Word & Excel. Must be able to operate all equipment relevant to performing the job functions. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires constant vision and sitting. Frequent handling, talking, hearing, depth perception and arm/hand machine control operation is required. Approximately 10% of this position's time is spent outside performing switching functions or observing and coordinating employees' activities where employee may be required to ambulate on uneven terrain.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Generally, work is performed in an indoor climate-controlled office environment with appropriate lighting.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Formal training and certification as a Journeyman Lineman are a plus. Ten years prior experience as a Journeyman Lineman is a plus. Prior experience in project management and in a leadership role is preferred. Two-year degree preferred. __________________________________________________________________________
