Kennedy Memorial Library at Cal State LA is a 317,000 square foot facility that welcomed more than 1.65 million visitors in the past year. The library maintains a physical collection of more than 800,000 items and has a total seating capacity of over 2,000. Under the supervision of the Director of Operations & User Experience/Services (OUX), the position of Senior User Experience Assistant provides support within the circulation, course reserves, and resource sharing units. This includes participating in the hiring, training, and supervision of student staff at the information service desk. The incumbent will suggest data-driven changes to streamline operations, assist in documenting procedures, respond to patron inquiries, and provide excellent customer service. The incumbent will assist the Director of OUX with compiling usage data. The incumbent will be responsible for the security and safety of all library users, collections, and equipment. This includes opening and closing the library according to the position's schedule as well as identifying and responding to facilities issues as appropriate. The Senior User Experience Assistant will act as a member of OUX and perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications & Experience:Two years' experience working in a customer service capacity in a library environment. Must possess ability to: perform service desk tasks; process interlibrary loan and course reserve requests, according to established policies and regulations within a timely manner; work well under pressure; work independently; adjust priorities as necessary; and good interpersonal skills. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
