Senior System Administrator  Overview This position is responsible for ensuring the information systems' stability, integrity, and efficient operation that supports the core organizational functions. This can be achieved by designing, configuring, monitoring, securing, optimizing, and supporting the physical hardware, virtual hardware, operating systems, and applications. The position requires proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all duties related to installing and managing server operating systems, infrastructure, and application software. Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization. Configure network parameters to meet ministry security and efficiency standards, including installing and upgrading devices and firewalls. Optimize the configuration and design of the data center environments and the applications they host. Ensure the smooth deployment of new applications and performs application upgrades. Performs data backup and recovery. Responsible for managing storage arrays, storage capacity, planning, and database environment performance. Responsible for downloading, installing, and monitoring patches for server hardware, operating systems, and applications. Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and securing all data centers' physical environments, which includes responding to events that may threaten the security and safety of the equipment and, more importantly, the data therein. Create and modify advanced shell scripts to automate day-to-day tasks with the ability to comprehend and reproduce complex algorithms - Windows command shell, PowerShell is a must, Python a plus, BASH is a plus, and VB Script is a plus. Responsible for writing and updating technical documentation. Also, create detailed procedures, checklists, and troubleshooting documentation, and contribute to the team knowledge base. Responsible for gathering system requirements for new projects. Responsible for designing and configuring the servers and applications for high availability. Responsible for working with other teams to resolve complex network, operating system, and application issues. Responsible for monthly maintenance and patch cycle: must be available on nights and weekends to participate in monthly patch and maintenance operations as required, including onsite shifts. Responsible for working with other teams on designing and implementing systems. Mentor other team members for cross-training on advanced data center administration techniques, configuration, and concepts. Research, recommend, and apply available technologies to achieve business objectives and goals. Required to keep the professional skillset relevant. This often requires outside work activities related to improving knowledge, such as reading, training, or preparing for certification. May require travel in support of Ministry Events, including the administration of a mobile network and server environment. Responsible for weekly and monthly reporting of Infrastructure metrics, tools, and usages. Other duties as assigned by the management. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Preferred Experience: Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related IT field, or equivalent work experience. System administration and IT certifications in Microsoft, Linux, or other network-related fields. A minimum of 3 years of experience in System Engineering and Administration is a must.3-5+ years of experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, Windows Server environments, and Virtualization knowledge (VMWare 6.5 and later). Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols, including firewall and gateway management and switches. Experience with scripting and automation tools. Strong working experience and knowledge of SAN and storage environment. Strong knowledge of Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) environment. Working knowledge of 2FA implementation and management. Azure and AWS cloud structure experience. Innovative problem-solver and motivated strategist. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must thoroughly understand networking, Active Directory, backup, recovery, and data center hardware, including network switches, network appliances, servers, and storage arrays. Advanced work experience with specified hardware and software and various network protocols involved in LAN and WAN interfacing, security, internet protocols, TCP/IP, VLAN, etc., and network infrastructure. Must have a thorough understanding of firewalls and network security. Experience with Enterprise Security Platforms and Endpoint security management tools - preferred. Must have a thorough knowledge of the Windows Registry and backup and restore, modify keys, create keys, and create registry merges. Must thoroughly understand Group Policy Objects and how this relates to security and administrative restrictions on servers and workstations. Must thoroughly understand files, share permissions, and related concepts in multiple operating systems (Windows/Linux); VMware 6.5 and later experience preferred. In-depth experience in Windows Server 2012/2016 and 2019, Exchange 2013/2016, Windows Clustering, Linux CentOS 7 and later, Amazon Web Service (AWS) experience preferred, Microsoft Office 365 AZURE experience preferred. Understanding and working knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure consisting of telephone, fax, voice/data, wireless, voicemail, and IVR systems is a plus. Ability to learn and implement new technologies independently by utilizing readily available resources (install guides, white papers, internet resources, etc.) On-Call rotation: must be available on nights, weekends, and holidays to support a 24x7 environment, which may include onsite operations. High level of analytical skills to find solutions to technical and system problems. Confident, self-starting, and goal-oriented. EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Standard office equipment and current on emerging technology and IT Network and Systems technologies. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to lift 30 lbs. – sometimes, you are required to walk, sit, talk, stand, stoop, bend, push, pull, and carry. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be able to sit at a computer for a minimum of seven hours per day. TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS: Ability to analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans. Must be able to thoroughly comprehend highly detailed and complex technical documentation and procedures with the ability to adapt and apply concepts to accommodate the needs of an ever-changing networking environment. Must be very organized and require a minimum of instruction. Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be detailed, organized, and communicative. Must be task and goal oriented. Requires the ability to prioritize and manage concurrent tasks. Must adapt well to changing work situations. Must be able to grasp and apply new ideas. Ability to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions. Must relate and interact with people at all levels. Must have good verbal and written command of the English language and be able to provide well-written, easy-to-understand documentation.8979360
