Position Summary:
This position will lead molecular projects through assay design and development, validation, and sample testing in a timely manner. Performs assays according to SOPs, and support development of new procedures and improvement of existing SOPs. Supervises assigned laboratory staff to ensure efficient organization, quality, development, and execution of project(s). Communicates results effectively to clients and develop lasting relationships to support future work.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
Leads the development and implementation of molecular scientific services to support the translational research needs of Precision customers
Designs and performs experiments independently, and accurately analyze and present data
Maintains a high-quality output with the ability to build efficiency into improving productivity metrics
Coordinates with management to develop project timelines and deliver on these timelines
Trains and mentors junior staff in molecular techniques, data analysis, collation, and presentation
Assists in establishing and improving all procedures and required SOP documentation
Responsible for trouble shooting and correcting scientific issues/problems
Responsible for ensuring that all experiments are performed on qualified equipment and that use and maintenance logs are up to date when performing experiments.
Maintains and supports safe lab practices and environment
Collaborates with other technical teams in resource sharing and providing technical expertise
Monitors project related expenses
Serves as a scientific resource to external clients and internal stakeholders
Assists with writing reports and presentations for clients as appropriate
Supervises assigned project related laboratory staff to ensure quality, development, and execution of project(s).

Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
D. in Genomics/Genetics, molecular sciences, or related fields and 6+ years’ relevant laboratory experience OR
Master’s Degree and 10+ years’ in an academic core or industry is required
Other Required:
Experience in molecular biology or genomics
Must have next generation sequencing (NGS) and pcr experience using a variety of technologies, preferably Illumina platform, with key responsibilities in preparation and formulation of unique library prep reagents
Ability to prioritize tasks and function in a team-oriented environment
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Must have the ability to organize and analyze data, as well as prepare reports
Excellent use of judgment and discretion required
Extended work hours may be occasionally necessary in order to meet business demands
Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC)
Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language
Preferred:
A solid understanding of current GLP and/or ISO/CAP/CLIA standards
Experience supervising technical personnel
